Five Minutes is Better Than A Frenzy

Company’s popping in this weekend but its a regular workday here. Can’t stop to pop on an apron and become super cleaning lady. Thank heavens I’ve kept to my five minute routine this week.  Five extra minutes in the morning and five extra minutes in the evening keep things manageable.

In the morning, five minutes can allow you to water the plants or Swiffer the hardwood or wipe off the coffee table. Five minutes in the evening can see that trash it taken out, magazines and newspapers tidied and so forth.

It’s sure tempting to pop in to bed after that last rerun of Seinfeld without taking five more minutes but routine pays off.  Five minutes at a time is better than an afterwork pre-weekend cleaning frenzy!

  1. This is a really good tip. I often find myself looking at my dishwasher and think, that cant wait… I would rather finish my book or catch up on Wife Swap. But the next thing you know there is a sink of dirty dishes bc the clean ones were never unloaded. It really only takes less than 5 minutes to unload the dishwasher!

A trick I like to use when I am not motivated to clean is to put on a timer and some really upbeat fun music. I make myself clean without stopping until the timer goes off. Before you know it, so much has been taken care of and I got to listen to my favorite tunes!
