Tackle It Before You Need a Chisel

Today I am waxing philosophical about cleaning. Yes, that is probably absurd. Still that is where my brain is going…

The more you dread doing something, the larger that something gets. It grows and it grows. When you finally tackle it, you say to yourself “See, I was right. That was as bad as I thought it would be.”

Case in point: The walk-in-shower. Of all the household chores, it remains on the low, low, low spot on my list. All those tiles, on the wall and on the floor. Then, there is all that glass, two whole walls of glass and a shower door. In fact, I can practically here the mold and soap scum huddling to gang up on me.

The more I dread it, the more I put it off. The more I put it off, the harder it gets.  What if I just tackled it on a regular basis, before I needed a chisel? Wouldn’t it be easier?

That, my friends, is just how some people view clutter. They approach it with dread. They put it off. It grows and grows. Then the task becomes the mountain that you pictured.

Thank heavens that there is help. As an organizer, I love nothing better than to help people tackle “all that stuff.”

Tackle it before you need a chisel.

My new motto.
