I always say that organization – or the lack of it- effects everything you do and every choice you make. It’s especially true for cooking. If you like to cook, or like the end result, like munching on the chip-laden creations, but hate dealing with the after-mess, then you need to follow some organizing basics.
- Before beginning, set out all your ingredients and supplies. This keeps you from discovering half-way through that you are out of eggs…or whatever.
- Store all your baking tools in one spot. I use this bottom drawer. As much as I love sweets, they don’t love me so I don’t bake that often. If you bake often, put it someplace closer. Having the items altogether prevents frustration from not being able to find the tools, or pieces of tools, like the beater for the mixer.
- Clean as you go. Keep a sink of warm soap water. Wipe off containers and return them to the cabinet after adding that ingredient. Add tools to the dishwasher as you finish with them. You’ll soon be down to a clean counter and just a bowl of dough.
- Enjoy the cookies. They don’t need much organization since they will soon be gone.
