If you are wondering who in the world worries about organizing stuffed animals, then consider this.
Remember the little girl’s room in ET? She had so many animals and dolls that ET successful burrowed into them, with only his face sticking out, and no one noticed.
That many accumulated furry pets creates chaos when it is clean up time. It appears there has been an escape from the stuffed animal zoo! There is little room for free play.
One of my favorites is a permanent solution. Add a shelf along one wall, just above the top of the door frame. All of the collectables and stuffed animals have a home. Just keep a few hugable ones on the bed. When the child wants a different one, they can switch out.
Denise Oliveri writes on Suite 101 about Organizing Stuffed Animals and she includes different options.
No matter what method you choose for organizing stuffed animals, put the one-in and one-out rule into play. It is one of my favorite organizing rules. It goes like this. Bring one new stuffed animal into the house then choose one that is less loved and donate it to charity. This lesson teaches children to be kind to others and that the owning of things should have a limit.
After all, how many adults do you know that never learned that lesson?
