You’ve finally made it up those nine flights of stair with all that stuff you needed to bring to the dorm.
But do you have some of the things you really need?
After packing and unpacking, I’ll share five basics you don’t want to forget.
1. Hangers: Sounds simple but when packing, you grab things and put them in the suitcase. Then you arrive at school, open the closet and stand scratching your head.
2. Mattress Pad: You special ordered those extra-long twin sheets. Now you are in the dorm looking at the who-knows-how-old mattress and wondering who drooled on it. Don’t you wish you had a nice clean mattress pad as a buffer against it.
3. Trash can: Just where did you think you were going to put the Mac-N-Cheese box?
4. Power Strip: Two kids + 1 dorm room = too few outlets.
5. Over-the-door hooks:You’ll have to use every bit of space if you want to get organized. You definitely don’t want to leave your towel in the bathroom for others to wipe their hands on. When you get back to your dorm room, you surely don’t want to leave it on the floor. Over-the-door hooks are just the solution. You can put it on the main door, closet door or bathroom door, depending on how your room is set up.
