You’ve probably dreamed of a home office like the one pictured. However, you might have a home office more like the one not pictured. The original home office of this organizing client of mine was a hodge-podge of things. There was the old but useable sleeper sofa, the extra chair and ottoman that didn’t fit elsewhere in the house, the computer desk that was assembled from a big-box store (and it didn’t have any drawers), an old sewing machine, an ancient dinosaur of a TV, the dresser that used to be in the kids’ room, the treadmill and a variety of plastic organizing containers struggling to contain what needed containing. You get the picture. It reminds me of Rudolph’s land of misfit toys. I’ve been there myself. Raising a family of young children often means making do!
Enter the amazing new office-guest room. With a slick pulldown bed and a closet with a valet bar, it can quickly become a guest room. The built-in desk now contains cabinets above and file drawer below. (No more plastic organizers here and there!) Best off all, the homeowner, who loves to sew and quilt, now has a place to store and see her fabrics and projects. In addition, when the bed is in the “up” position, the face of the bed contains a work table that can be pulled down to make a sewing station.
It’s all fabulous and it was built by Alpha Closets of Gulf Breeze. I got to organize all the goodies into the room- but that was the easy part! They designed and custom-built the space so a big shout out to them.
I’m jealous! Now I have to start thinking about my own office in new ways! How about you?
Disclosure: I have no business or financial connection to Alpha Closets and I was not compensated by them to write this blog.
